C418 Alpha

features landscapes and scenes broken down into the basic forms. Many of scenes depict memories or places from my life or places I would like to experience. Throughout the work is sense of isolation but not loneliness. C418 Alpha refers to the title of the sound track to Minecraft. In the early version of the game you were the sole figure in a geometric landscape; exploring, mining, and building the world around you. I often experience the world, particularly nature, feeling the same way as when playing that game. These images reflect that sense of isolation and exploration. Each work was made using a laser cutter and stacked glued paper. Each element in the work is fully supported by underlying elements and frame creating an interesting design challenge that enhanced the aesthetics of each piece. This created a low relief that is then further accentuated through implied depth. The frames are 3D printed.
